My absolute favorite beach of Curaçao is without a doubt Kenepa Grandi. If you aren’t familiar with the name than I’m sure you’ve seen the pictures: a perfect turquoise coloured sea, a stoneless white beach, and various hills making this beach extra eyecandy.
There are actually 2 Kenepa’s; the small one called Kenepa Chikitu and the bigger one called Kenepa Grandi. They are right next to each other and although both look alike, they’re not the same.
Kenepa Chikitu is the perfect beach if you’re into quietness and calm surroundings. It’s great for snorkelling and has this very natural vibe to it!
Kenepa Grandi on the other hand is much more crowded and vivid. There’s a cute little bar where a man sells drinks and snacks. You’re allowed to bring your music and turn it up. As much as it is a local beach, it’s also great for tourists. But I love that it’s still got the local vibe and isn’t so touristic…
Get ready for a healthy dose of vitamin D, palapa’s all around and most importantly: freedom. Bring your own food, jugs with ice and drinks, turn up your music and chill however you want to (as long as you clean up your mess). Kenepa is life!
