I’m going to lose weight…

I’m going to lose weight…

….and for real this time! I figured I’d put it all out on the Internet so that I actually have motivation to push through. You know, so I won’t embarrass myself if I quit. But that’s not going to happen because this time, I will not give up.

 

The Struggle

You’d find me hitting the gym for a while, then slowly stop showing up and the next thing you know I’m reading some girls’ successful weight loss journey online while eating a bar of chocolate next to an empty bag of chips. Yup, what can I say?

 

 

It took me some time to realize that losing weight is a mental thing for most people, and also for me. There’s a voice deep inside of you that tells you you can’t do it. You are not good enough, you’re weak. And it’s really hard to say no to food. You may think “Oh but this small piece of…” NO. That one time, those small pieces are keeping you the way you are and making you want to give up when you’re not seeing results.

Motivated

I have lost weight before, so I know I can do this, I just need to push myself a little harder again. I remember when I was 15 and I told myself: “I want to be skinny before I turn 16”. Well, guess what Shari, you’re turning 21 this year, but even though it may have taken me a few years, I will reach my goals.

So, are you with me? Losing weight is a process and we won’t reach our goals in just 2 weeks. It will take time, cost effort and we’ll need to learn a LOT about discipline. But I always believe that if you’re doing something together (and somewhat competing) you will get to where you want to be.

I will post updates on my weight loss journey every Sunday from now on, so follow me if you want to stay up to date. Feel free to comment about the challenges you face and what your goals are! To start out, my goal is to lose at least 5KG before my birthday on June 21. I know it’s not much, but it’s something and it’s realistic. My long term goal is to lose 13KG. And though I’ve found the strength to publish all this on the web, I will not post my current weight today (just in case I do give up, which I won’t but, yeah…anywayyyyyy).

 

Here’s to early mornings in the gym and clean eating!!!!!! YAYYYYY……ugh
